-.- admit it, you just keep the secret to yourself to once gain world domination by lensflares! i see your evil plot!!! ^^
so, really, i assume it is just a selection and a brush and some soft edges then? i always thought there is a combination of ps effects to get this....
I did it the cheap way...made a couple dots and used motion blur in PS to stretch them way out, then duplicated/merged a couple times to make them more solid...then I think they were applied as a "screen" layer. There are some tuts online if you want to make more correct-looking ones...search for "anisotropic lens flares".
Sorry! You want _anamorphic_ lens flares. It's an effect that comes from using an anamorphic lens when filming...see "Alien", and the new "Star Trek" for good examples. "Mass Effect" also uses this effect a lot.
Anisotropy is something else entirely, so if you search for "anisotropic lens flare" you will not find much!
yeah!!! alien and the new startrek have those all over the place! some brilliant movies... alien all over the place, for startrek specially the intro space battle... some shots look like the best parts of the battlestar galactica series, the new one...
fav!!!

i will definitely try this in one of my next practice pieces!
