Great speedpainting. I love the subtle silhouette of the man. Did you make a brush from the trees or did you just merge them straight onto the canvas?

Thanks :) I ripped the trees straight from a photo and merged them onto the canvas, which made a mess. You can see that I tried to fix them up with clone-brushing, blending modes, and painting, but their edges are still indistrinct. Oh well. I used Goro Fujita's branch brushes to add some noise and break the photo overlay up. Live and learn!
...Now that you mention it, perhaps I should make some brushes.

so not fair. Where do get all the awesomeness?
This is really great, it's very gritty and textured. I just wish you'd make it bigger so I could really see the texture.

The orginal is larger, but the textures break down close up :P Lies and fakery!

Your use of colour is amazing. The warm and cool greens work so well together to create depth. I would love to know how you achieved such a warm glow in the centre of the image.

hi, thanks :)
...the glow in the middle is an orange-ish layer on "soft light" mode, atop other layers that gradually build up the light. I think I also ran a "maximum" filter on the figure in order to get that extreme back-lit look, like the light is eating away at the figure.
:icondrisco:
Ah I see. I'm going to have to experiment more with the blending modes I think.
