fuck yea! Noted. Somewhere I read about a robot that patrolled a guy's garden, capturing slugs. Then it dumped the slugs into a bio-reactor to produce electricity. Sweeet.
Thanks for the thoughtful comments guys! I agree with all of them. My next experiment will be to try and create a more contemporary exoskeleton, something that looks like it was made by humans, but has unusual proportions. The weird, super-wide sketches on the lower left were experiments with making a design that looks so ...off...that there must be some sort of mysterious function to them. Also, not only will that red logo not be used for any further sketches, I'll probably can it and make a better one, or do some more development of the logos, separately.
I really like the reticulated pattern on the upper right- it's a nice mix of mecha-ish and something from a koi or a beetle. It might make a good unifying element.
The missile packs on the lower right make a nice heavy version. I don't really think the red logo fits this piece- I'd be tempted to have any markings be more of an overall pattern on the carapace.
nice man!.. got a lot of variation to work w/ now.. keep going my two picks on this page would be the top left and the bottom right.. both i feel have the strongest silhouettes.. for combat function i think the top left feels the meanest to me.. the bottom right feels a lot more like a supply transport mech; not suitable for direct fighting, but feels heavier plated for higher defense..
actually.. at a second glance.. i really like tendril whip man too.. strong shape.. another class that i think would work really well
really good stuff here.. hope the comments are helping.. peace
when you get right down to things, in terms of what humans are missing evolutionarily, the highest priority has got to be high powered manipulators. Most of the animal kingdom uses some type of muscle or motion that has enough force to tear the door off a sedan, and that is without mechanical interference.
Humans primary benefit and strength in the animal kingdom is our ability to craft and use complex tools. Therefore, no "human exo-skeletal armor" need be limited to the human limb structure, in fact, the less limited it is by our concepts of our own biology, the better. The race, at least in a military concept, gains extra durability, and greater abilities to compete in general with any exo-skeletal machinery, no matter the shape.
So, the question you need to answer now is: darn alien? or darn useful?
